Over the weekend little man and I (along with my dad, mom, one of my brothers, and my grandma) went to my grandmother's family reunion.  It was held at the This is the Place Heritage Park.  The home that my grandma's grandpa lived in was taken apart and reassembled within the park.  My grandma got to help cut the ribbon and welcome the house to its new home.

While we were there, we found the petting zoo.  Animals always put a smile on my little guy's face.

The goats and sheep apparently liked him too.  Oh, and his stroller.  They kept trying to take big bites out of it.

My adventurous brother made friends with the turkey

and the goose

oh, and the ducks!

Little man also got to ride on a pony.  He was a little nervous about that and held onto my neck most of the time.

*note, I am not wearing a tank top, just a skin-colored shirt underneath.  In hind-sight...maybe that wasn't the best idea ;)*

Sorry that I didn't post yesterday!  We've had some issues with the Internet but I'm crossing my fingers that it's all fixed now.

For my sister's 21st birthday, she planned an Alice in Wonderland themed party.  So this past Saturday we dressed in costume, played crochet, ate cucumber sandwiches and tarts (and a million other delicious foods!), and celebrated my sister's birthday.  :)

Characters:
Alice played by my sister
White Rabbit played by my baby
Mad Hatter played by my hubby
March Hare played by my youngest brother
Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum played by my brother and sister-in-law
Knave of Hearts played by my dad
White Queen played by my mom
Queen of Hearts played by me

We browsed a car dealership this weekend. Mostly out of curiosity. They had balloons everywhere and little man would excitedly point to each one and christen it a ball. Imagine his excitement when they let him bring a "ball" home!

Our little man is so fun to play with.  Hubby especially loves taking advantage of the time he has with his son.  I love watching the two of them interact.  Two of my favorites recently:

1-Playing the piano together.  This is almost a daily occurance.

2-Little man imitating something his daddy does.

Yesterday we had an early birthday "celebration" for my sister.  We'll be celebrating more this weekend, but since she would be near my home after work, we took advantage of it.  We:

-Got a fortune teller to tell me what my future would hold.  (I was informed to buy myself a gift because no one lives forever)

-Gave little man a ride on a motorcycle.

-Bought my sister a Pink Champagne flavored snow cone (appropriate choice for her 21st birthday)

-Found an African Lion

Happy 21st birthday to my sister: the best hairstylist, cupcake maker, interior designer, actress, babysitter, and friend!

(we're so little!)

My little man experienced his first popsicle the other day.  It was my creative solution to keeping him hydrated while he was sick.

He must have really loved it because when a big piece popped out of the plastic, he held it in his bare hands rather than give it up!

My poor baby boy came down with croup.  I feel like he's the only baby in the world who would get it in the middle of the summer!  It's been pretty miserable, but I'm grateful that he got over it fairly quickly.  I know that is because of the Priesthood blessing his daddy gave him and the prayers of our family and friends.

While we have been battling this illness, I have done whatever I can to make my little guy comfortable.  Which included going outside of my comfort zone and allowing him to get very, very messy.  Whenever we go outside (which is often because my baby loves being outdoors so much), my little man wants to play in the mud.  So the other day I stripped him down to his diaper and let him at it.

Of course, the one time I'm okay with him playing in the mud is the one time he's super careful and doesn't get very dirty.  Look at him using that stick to dig up dirt instead of using his fingers!

The other thing little man always wants to do when he is outside is play with all the "balls" he sees in the backyard.  How do you explain to a one year old that those balls are mushy fruit?  You don't.  He cries every time I take the "balls" away to avoid having him mash it in his hand.  This time, however, I let him go to town with his "balls" to keep him happy.

The other day little man got a hold of my camera.  He took this:

...I'm not even sure how....

My mom and I took little man to the splash park yesterday.  Though he was a little timid at first, he quickly fell in love.  He had a blast playing with the water.

When he started shivering I took him out and wrapped him in a towel to warm him up and the whole time he was trying to get back into the water.  I let him back in for a while but he began shivering again and it was lunch time.  He was pretty mad at me for taking him away!

I think we will be visiting the splash park a lot more before the summer is over.

We've been doing lots and lots of yard work since moving into our new place.  The yard has been kind of neglected.

Little man is loving all the time outdoors.  He loves to pull up the grass, dig through the dirt, swing in the swing, and explore everything.  He's always so happy when we are outside.  It will be sad when winter comes and we can't play outside as much.

10.7.12

Little man has a new smile.  I think he picked it up from his daddy.  I call him a little old Chinese man when he does it.

Can you see the resemblance?

P.S. Please excuse the mess in the background of the first few pictures.  They were taken just days before moving!

This weekend we went to the aquarium and Cabella's with my family.  Little man had a blast.

He loved pointing to all the fish and saying "ish, ish!"  Sometimes he even put the "f" at the beginning.

He also loved all the taxidermied deer at Cabella's.  He wouldn't say "deer" but he would point to each one we saw and wait for me to tell him that was a deer.

A big thanks to my brother and sister-in-law for putting the day together!
