Last month I had the opportunity to babysit for a friend a few times.  She has a pre-school aged boy and a little girl who is only a few days younger than my little man.  I had fun interacting with them and watching my baby interact with someone his age.

The pre-schooler has a fascination with picture taking.  Here are a few pictures from his point of view:

(he chose my pose for this picture.  I find it pretty funny)

My little guy loves being outside.  He chats happily whenever I put him in the stroller and take him for a walk.  One thing I've discovered he doesn't like, however, is the feel of grass on his bare skin.  I've tried on multiple occasions to put little man on the grass.  He lifts his legs up as high as they can go and whines to be picked up.

So now we have to approach grass like it's deep water:

Our feet can dangle over the edge but that's about it.

Yesterday my little man surprised me by letting me know he can go up stairs.  He had only tried going up our stairs once before, about two months ago.  He stopped after one stair and as far as I know never tried again.  So I wasn't at all concerned when I had to run something up to the bedroom and left the little guy playing with toys downstairs.  Boy was I surprised when I came back down to find him already a few steps up!

As I watched, my clever baby made it up our entire flight of stairs.  I counted...that's 17 steps!  When he made it to the top, he was very proud and did what I refer to as "the victory crawl".

What a smart (and rather adorable) son I have!  Since he doesn't yet show an interest in learning to get down the stairs (believe me, I tried!) I will have to keep the baby gate up for now.  He's growing so fast, though!

Yesterday little man and I explored our town's "Nature Park."

Little man loved watching the ducks.  I'm glad he didn't realize they were mating....I'm not ready to talk about that yet!

We also got to see an old airplane from the airplane museum nearby.  They started up the engine and left it running for a few minutes (I have no idea why but it was neat!)

Then before we left we found a squirrel.  I pointed it out to Little man and at first he wasn't sure what to think.

The squirrel was obviously very used to humans because it came to get a closer look at us.

At first I didn't mind but then as it continued to inch forward it started to make me nervous.  "What if it has rabies and tries to attack my baby?!"

Once I had that thought I quickly steered my baby away.  Little man was pretty mad that I took him away from his new friend, but I showed him a few more ducks and he was okay.

I'm so glad we are able to enjoy such lovely weather!

You need to check out this blog if you like drooling over delicious desserts.  She did my wedding cake and she's a-mazing as a cook, sister (okay, I admit it, we're related....but she's still awesome!), and babysitter.  ;)

Little man loves rubbing soft things on his face. It's so cute!

The wedding was amazing.  I'm so happy for my brother and new sister-in-law.

The groom?  Handsome.  The bride?  Absolutely gorgeous.  My baby?  Freaking adorable! (I love his little suit!)

The day started out rainy and overcast but luckily cleared up and was so lovely.

Yay weddings! :)

19.4.12

Today my brother is getting married!  We were very busy setting up for the reception yesterday and of course will be crazy busy all day today.

It's going to be gorgeous though, and I am so excited.  So is little man.

He had a great time crawling around the big open space while we cut flowers and set up tables.  We even found a fun toy, just his size!

Tomorrow my brother is getting married.  We are so excited for him!  And of course a wedding means fun time with family.

Little man always loves that.  :)

17.4.12

The other day little man woke up in such a good mood.  He sat in the play pen and chatted with himself for about 15 minutes.  I tried to record it but as soon as he saw me with the camera, he stopped what he was doing, pulled himself up, and gave me a great big camera-ready grin.

So I obliged and took his picture.  Once he heard the click, my little man changed to a new pose and waited for me to take the picture.

And after that click?  He was ready with a new pose.

Click.

I think I've got a little model on my hands.

I wanted to do a fun photoshoot with the little man the other day.  I put him in a nice outfit and put some adorable little shoes on his feet.

It turns out my little guy isn't a fan of shoes.  He spent most of the time screaming and trying to get the shoes off his feet.  I did get one cute picture before I called it quits.

I think little man and I are both glad that spring is in the air.

12.4.12

Usually I keep little man in the bathroom with me while I shower.  I give him a bunch of toys, make sure there's nothing he could get into that would be a problem, and hop in the shower.

Lately when I get done with my shower and pull back the curtain, I am greeted by scenes similar to this:

I need to remember to hide the toilet paper now!  Or I guess I could leave little man in his crib while I shower, but I like having him with me.
